Murang’a County has launched a new digital system to transform how it distributes items to residents.

Therefore, the county decided to redesign the process entirely.

To solve the problem permanently, the County Government developed a digital platform designed specifically for mass distribution.

The system introduces:

• Digital verification of beneficiaries

• Controlled collection processes

• Reduced crowding

• Clear accountability

Most importantly, it restores dignity to beneficiaries.

Successful Pilot Confirms the System Works

The county first tested the system in Murang’a Town.
The pilot ran during the recent Christmas gift distribution.

The outcome was clear.

Intended beneficiaries collected their items:

They used a fully digital verification process.
As a result, the pilot recorded no major challenges.

County Expands Pilot to 135,000 Maize Farmers

Following the successful test, the county will now scale up the pilot countywide.

The next phase will cover all registered maize farmers in Murang’a County.
In total, this includes approximately 135,000 farmers.

This time, distribution will not happen through primary schools.
Instead, the county will use approved local merchants located near the farmers.

This change reduces travel, cuts congestion, and improves access.

Digital System to Support Future Farm Input Distribution

The county’s plans extend beyond Christmas.

If the pilot succeeds, the same digital system will be:

• Fully adopted

• Used for maize seed distribution

• Used for fertiliser distribution

• Used for other agricultural inputs

This rollout will begin in March 2026 and continue in all subsequent seasons.
