Murang’a County Holds Free Medical Hearing Camp Ahead of World Hearing Day

Providing Specialized Hearing Care

Murang’a residents who attended the camp received expert care from a team of highly qualified audiologists and hearing consultants. The services provided included:

  • Comprehensive hearing assessments
  • Diagnosis and treatment of hearing conditions
  • Distribution of hearing aids for individuals diagnosed with hearing loss

By offering these services, the county ensured that individuals with hearing challenges received the necessary support to improve their quality of life.

Raising Awareness on Hearing Health

Beyond providing treatment, the medical camp aimed to educate the public on ear health. The key focus areas included:

  • Causes of hearing problems, such as sudden deafness and noise-induced hearing loss
  • Preventive measures to protect ear health
  • The importance of regular hearing check-ups
Addressing Hearing Impairment in Children

One of the most notable observations during the camp was the high number of children diagnosed with hearing impairment. This finding prompted a call to parents to prioritize early hearing check-ups for their children. Early detection and intervention can significantly improve a child’s ability to develop communication skills and succeed in life.

Young people were also advised to minimize exposure to excessive noise, such as loud music and industrial noise, to prevent long-term hearing damage.

Key Officials in Attendance

Several county officials and medical experts were present at the event, including:

  • Faith Njoroge – CECM Education
  • Isaac Karoga – Chief Officer for Medical Services
  • Lisper Njoroge – HR Maragua Hospital
  • Richard Mwangi – Lead Audiologist

Their presence underscored the county’s commitment to improving healthcare services and raising awareness about hearing health.

A Commitment to Better Healthcare

The County Government of Murang’a appreciates everyone who contributed to making this initiative a success. The event reflects the county’s ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare access and ensuring that all residents, especially those with hearing challenges, receive the support they need.
